World Sight Day

World Sight Day is an annual day of awareness to focus global attention on blindness, visual impairment and rehabilitation of the visually impaired held on the second Thursday in October. World Sight Day is observed around the world by all partners involved in preventing visual impairment or restoring sight. It is also the main advocacy event for the prevention of blindness and for "Vision 2020: The Right to Sight", a global effort to prevent blindness created by WHO and the International Agency for the Prevention of Blindness.

Diplomatic Conference to conclude a Treaty to facilitate Access to Published Works by Visually Impaired Persons and Persons with Print Disabilities

Further to the decision of the WIPO General Assembly which met in extraordinary session on December 17 and 18, 2012 and the Preparatory Committee that followed, the Diplomatic Conference to conclude a Treaty to facilitate Access to Published Works by Visually Impaired Persons and Persons with Print Disabilities will be hosted by the Kingdom of Morocco and will take place at the Palais des Congres in Marrakesh. The aim of the conference is to adopt an international treaty to improve access to copyrighted works for the many visually impaired and people with print disabilities around the world.
